Known for its unique and colorful atmosphere, Serendipity is quite unlike any other restaurant in the area. A ceiling of Chinese paper parasols hang open and upside down. Outside on their patio, paper lanterns sway in the breeze year-round. Upon entering, you are sure to be charmed by the bright, colorful decorations and enchanting entrance, especially during Valentine’s Day. Large, whimsical hearts line the walkway to Serendipity and smaller versions are strategically placed throughout the restaurant. Nothing says Valentine’s Day like pretty pops of red, so the crimson-colored streamers draped overhead are a perfect addition.

Swing by for the decorations, but stay for the food. Since the restaurant's inception, they have been making everything on their menu in-house. The portions are generous, so come hungry. Their homemade baked lasagna, a towering slice of delicate sheets of pasta layered between savory meat, a rich tomato sauce, and creamy blend of three cheeses, fills the plate. While primarily serving Italian cuisine, Serendipity also offers seafood dishes that include broiled scallops and a flounder filet, plus Polish specialities such as pierogies and galumpki, a stuffed cabbage dish. Another customer favorite is their Polish Kielbasa and sauerkraut sandwich.

If you enjoy the sweeter things in life, make sure to save room for one (or two) desserts. Their desserts are all made in-house, including a decadent treat aptly named Serendipity Chocolate Blackout Cake. The rich mixture of sweet pineapple and golden brown sugar make their Pineapple Upside-Down Cake another customer favorite.

Serendipity also serves up a side of notable history. For three decades beginning in the 1920s, this location was a busy boardwalk, featuring a hotel, boardwalk, dance hall, and more. When a 1962 storm ravaged the area, businesses moved to the Rehoboth boardwalk.
