Looking for inspiration to woo that someone special in your life this Valentine’s Day? From cozying up next to a beach bonfire at sunset to enjoying a romantic candle-lit dinner in the comfort of your own living room, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite date night ideas in the coastal Delaware Beach area.

For The Couple That Plays Together

  • Channel your inner kid and head to an arcade to win your sweetheart a prize. Captain’s Quarters at The Millville Boardwalk is open daily 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. Valentine’s Day Date Night Drop Off special on Friday, February 12th, from either 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. For $25, you can drop off the kids for while you go to dinner and they’ll be entertained with 50 tokens, all-you-can-eat pizza, and a scoop of ice cream.

  • Play a round of mini-golf. It’s not only nostalgic, but it gives you an excuse for a little PDA when showing your partner how to swing their club properly. Shell We Golf on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach offers a challenging 18 holes amongst a tropical setting. After your game, stop next door to pick up a box of homemade fudge made daily at the Sea Shell Shop. Viking Mini Golf in Fenwick Island is another popular course.   • Couples skate, anyone? Take a trip to the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington for a few spins on their ice skating rink. Admission is $8 and skate rentals are $3.50 plus service fees. Make sure to check the online calendar in advance to book your spot. 

  • Race your date around the Midway Speedway. With four tracks and over seven different types of go-karts, you’ll have plenty of choices. A single ticket will cost you $8, but save 5% when you purchase tickets online! *Per their website, Midway Speedway is open weekends year round (weather permitting).

For The Couple That Stays Active Together

  • Don’t discount the romance of staying active while trying something new with your significant other. RISE Fitness in Rehoboth offers daily passes for $20 that includes access to their classes and rock wall.

  • Unroll your mats and zen out at any number of yoga studios offering both in-person and online classes. Ocean Vayu Yoga in Ocean View is a charming studio offering a range of classes from Ashtanga to Tai Chi. Plus, it’s a short drive from all of the popular beaches including Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Dewey Beach, and Rehoboth.

  • Rent a bike for a peaceful way to explore the area, and get a mini workout while you’re cruising. Seagreen Bicycles has a wide variety of bikes for rent at both their Lewes and Rehoboth locations. 

  • Spend an afternoon flying a kite on the beach. Rehoboth Toy & Kite Company is home to the largest selection of kites in the Delaware Beach area, so you’re sure to find one! Their Rehoboth Beach boardwalk location is closed, but their downtown store at 70 Rehoboth Avenue is open year round from 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

For The Couple That Likes To Get Out In Nature

  • If you’re looking for an anything-but-traditional date, horseback riding is a great option. Gateway Farms in Harrington. Windswept Stables in Millsboro offers private lessons with rates starting at $45 for a 30-minute lesson or $70 for a 45-minute lesson.

  • Bundle up and take a stroll with your special someone. Gordon’s Pond, James Farm, Cape Henlopen State Park, the Junction & Breakwater Trail and many others provide perfect landscapes to walk hand-in-hand with your special someone and take in the beauty of Delaware. 

  • Nothing says romance like a snuggling up next to your sweetheart in front of a bonfire on the beach. Roast marshmallows while the sun sets for a very dreamy evening. Bonfires on the beach are by permit only and are strictly enforced. Permits can typically be found on the town’s website. 

For The Couple Looking To Unwind

  • A massage can often be exactly what your loved one needs to relax and decompress. Bad Hair Day? offers a relaxing, indulgent 60-minute couple’s massage for $190.

Channel your inner tourist and book a night away … sort of. There are endless options for a romantic staycation at the beach. A few noteworthy hotel packages in the beach area: 

  • The Atlantic Sands Hotel, located on the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, is offering a special Valentine’s Day rate of $229 for a one-night stay, dinner for two, breakfast the following morning, as well as champagne and chocolates. Call 302-227-2511 for more information.

  • Hotel Rehoboth is offering a “Be My Valentine” package for $130 in addition to the cost of the room that includes a half bottle of champagne and chocolates upon arrival, an evening wine reception from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and a turndown service. Guests will also receive dinner for two at their choice of Lupo Italian Kitchen, Blue Moon, Fins, Summer House, Stingray Sushi & Asian Grill, Sazio or Salt Air. Breakfast will be served the following morning at Lupo Italian exclusively for Hotel Rehoboth guests followed by a late check out 1:00 p.m.

  • The Inn at Canal Square in Lewes is offering a “Spoil Someone Special” and it really is the perfect way to pamper your Valentine. Spend two nights in one of their charming rooms, enjoy a bottle of champagne or wine, a seasonal fruit and cheese tray, an $80.00 dinner certificate, and complimentary European-style breakfast.
