Explore an 80-foot railroad bridge, spectacular views of coastal wetlands and even a World War II observation tower with Mom on a historic rail corridor that has been converted to a 6 mile trail from Lewes to Rehoboth. The Junction Breakwater Trail is Delaware's 3rd longest trail and according to the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, "...gets its name from the rail line that ran between Lewes and Rehoboth in the mid-1800s. It follows former Penn Central Rail Line that once transported passengers to the many Methodist resort camps along the Atlantic Coast."

Spend The Day Outside
Whether it is picking your own fresh strawberries, wandering through a lavender field, or relaxing in a Tuscany-esque vineyard with a glass of wine, there are plenty of ways to spend the day outside with mom.
Pick Your Own Fruit at Fifer Orchards
Their strawberry season runs early May – June. Picking is by reservation only, so check their website to make a reservation in advance. Also, make sure to take a peek at their handy “How To Pick” guide. Magee Farms is another good option and open every day from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for strawberry picking, the Lewes Farm is located at 33761 Wescoats Rd, Lewes, and the Selbyville Farm can be found at 34857 Lighthouse Rd, Selbyville.
Explore the lavender fields at Warrington Manor, an old farmhouse that dates back to the 1890’s and is situated on five acres of land. In addition to the 3,000 lavender plants in the field, Warrington Manor is also home to an expansive native wildflower garden and an award winning Dahlia Garden with 64 varieties. Spend the afternoon taking in the sites (and smells), then relax in their Zen Garden. Warrington Manor is located at 18864 Cool Spring Rd in Milton.
Sip a glass of wine at Nassau Valley Vineyard
Located just a few miles from Delaware’s busy beach towns, the winery sits on a quiet road surrounded by leafy gardens. Self-guided tours are free. Tasting is $10 per person and includes your tasting glass as a take-home. Nassau Valley Vineyards is open, year-round, Tuesday - Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Click here to make your reservation. Pack a picnic and head to the beach
While it may not be ideal swimming weather, there’s nothing like relaxing on the beach with some delicious food, a good book, and mom. If you’re in the Rehoboth Beach area, stop by Frank and Louie's for a couple of sandwiches including The Madie’s Caddy, homemade eggplant cutlets, creamy mozzarella, roasted red peppers, on fresh bread.
