Homage: 12 Portraits of Earth. Works by Temre Stanchfield
Fri
Apr 5
This April, the Rehoboth Art League is showcasing three new exhibitions that will challenge and excite viewers! Printmaking dominates this month’s exhibits, with the shows “No Boundaries: The Art of Printmaking Today. American Color Print Society National Exhibition” and “Against the Tyranny of Time: Printmaking by Mark Harris” on display, in addition to Temre Stanchfield’s solo exhibition “Homage: 12 Portraits of Earth.” These shows will hang in the RAL galleries from April 5 to May 5.
On the evening of April 5th from 5-7 pm, the art league will be hosting an opening reception for these new exhibits, inviting anyone interested to visit the Corkran, Tubbs, and Ventures galleries to see the displayed work.
Temre Stanchfield’s oil paintings will provide a welcomed change from the print work, as her solo show, “Homage: 12 Portraits of Earth,” takes over the Tubbs Gallery. Based in Southern PA, Temre used the calendar to develop 12 abstract paintings that are made in gratitude for the natural world. She describes her creative process as similar to the experience of communing with nature – the peacefulness, stillness, and a glimpse of the interconnection of all things. Temre draws inspiration from the landscape throughout the seasons near her home studio, which informs the textures and shapes found in her paintings. The homage paintings are created and installed in the round to suggest the ongoing perennial cycle, inspiring the idea of eternity, and renewal.
