Lewes Historical Society is comprised of a collection of twelve old-town Lewes historical sites, nine of which are centrally located on a complex at the intersection of Second and Shipcarpenter Street. The Cannonball House (1765) is one of the most well-known landmarks in Lewes. Visitors flock to see the famous house with the cannonball still stuck in its side. Now, it is home to nationally important maritime art and memorabilia. The Burton-Ingram House (1785) is nationally recognized for its architectural significance to lower Delaware. It houses elegant furnishings, and fine art.
